His default course is a private country club, of which he is a member, founded in in an affluent Phoenix neighbourhood not far from the one where he lives in a tasteful, sprawling compound-like residence.
He is speaking from the aforementioned home, in Paradise Valley, Arizona, the state in which he was raised and to which he returned post the mayhem of his peak performing-recording years.
Sans eye make-up, but very much in possession of his signature blue-black mane, he speaks eloquently and thoughtfully, smiling widely and often. His hands are mostly loosely clasped in his lap, but his eyebrows articulate volumes. Behind his right shoulder is a sculpture of a giant human eyeball, in the palm of a hand whose arm functions as a pedestal; the eyeball is crowned with a tuft of neon hair. Ah; right. He has two daughters and a son and four grandchildren.
The family often gathers at the Paradise Valley house; during lockdown, they spent several months together there. In its various spaces hang works by locally and nationally renowned artists: a few canvases by Anne Coe; several photorealist shopfronts, motels and neon signs by James Gucwa. More recently, there was the Warhol, too. So when we moved back to Arizona, we rolled it up in a shipping tube, with a bunch of other art, and put it in the garage. Is it also true, I ask Cooper, that his own Warhol remained in its tube for… decades?

What if they had that option? Still, 's Hey Stoopid and 's The Last Temptation were generally solid, professional efforts that helped Cooper settle into a comfortable cult status without damaging the critical goodwill surrounding his '70s output. After a live album, 's Fistful of Alice, Cooper returned on the smaller Spitfire label in with Brutal Planet, and Dragontown a year later. The Eyes of Alice Cooper appeared in and found Cooper and company playing a more stripped-down brand of near-garage rock.
Dirty Diamonds from was nearly as raw and hit the streets around the same time Cooper premiered his syndicated radio show Nights with Alice Cooper. Three years later he returned with Along Came a Spider, a concept album that told the story of a spider-obsessed serial killer.
The same year, he was awarded the Kerrang! Icon Award. Advancing years didn't prevent Cooper from maintaining a hectic schedule, and by he was touring with Iron Maiden and headlining Bloodstock Open Air. They subsequently released an album of rock covers. He reunited with Ezrin yet again for his 27th studio record.
The album was also released in a special edition with a bonus disc of live material. Early the following year, an EP was released, centered around Paranormal single "The Sound of A," which included a handful of live cuts from his tour.

Nice Guy 42,, Cooper went solo in and continued the success. The son of a pastor, Cooper moved with his family when he was 12, first to California and later to Arizona, where the Furniers lived in a trailer park. Cooper developed an early passion for music, and in high school he formed his first rock band. The group, first called the Earwigs and later renamed the Spiders, covered the bands — the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Who — that Cooper adored. After exhausting the local bar scene, the group moved to Los Angeles.
By this time they had developed an angry, up-front and dark sound, which critics initially abhorred. However, with Cooper as its engaging front man, its music caught the attention of Frank Zappa, who inked the young musicians to a record deal.
In , the group, which had changed its name to Alice Cooper, released its first album, Pretties for You. A follow-up album, Easy Action , came out a year later. Almost immediately, the group gained a reputation for outrageous performances.
In one famous incident, a fan threw a live chicken on to the stage. Cooper responded by picking up the bird and throwing it into the air. When it landed back in the hands of the audience the chicken was torn into pieces. In an altered version of the story, Cooper killed the bird himself and then drank its blood.
Other theatrical acts included "murdering" infant dolls and using fake guillotines and electric chairs during performances.
